About Us
Founded by Jacques Coetzee in 2014, Wild Dog 4×4 began as a small family business driven by a passion for off-road recovery, innovation, and building products that solve real challenges in the industry. What started with a vision to create reliable recovery solutions has grown into a brand recognized for pushing boundaries and developing products specifically designed for the off-road community.
Over the past 11 years, we have continuously focused on innovation and quality. We proudly created South Africa’s first soft shackle and have continued manufacturing and improving our recovery solutions ever since. Our goal has always been simple: build products that are practical, dependable, and designed by people who understand the realities of vehicle recovery and overlanding.
Our commitment to building a trusted brand also led us to establish and protect our identity. The WILD DOG 4X4® name became a registered trademark application in 2016 and was officially accepted and registered in 2018, reinforcing our dedication to creating a recognized and respected name within the off-road industry.
Throughout our journey, we have achieved several important milestones:
- 2016 – Introduced GWM-specific recovery kits designed specifically for the needs of GWM owners. (the correct gear for the specific vehicle)
- Created South Africa’s first soft shackle in 2015, and have continued manufacturing and improving our products for the past 12 years.
- 2022 – Became the first in the world to create a dedicated Jimny-specific recovery kit.
- Developed one of the most comprehensive ranges of recovery kits available on the market.
- 2025 – Became the first in the world to introduce additional safety straps to our safety damper, helping raise recovery safety standards.
- 2026 – Created the ultimate recovery kit specifically designed for Overlanding in Africa.
Our products have also reached international markets, with exports into Europe before COVID. As we move forward, we believe this is only the beginning of the next chapter, and we are excited to once again expand our horizons and reach new markets around the world.
